Dr. Rebecca Berger completed her undergraduate degree at SUNY Geneseo and her Ph.D. in clinical psychology at Hofstra University.  Her theoretical orientation is cognitive- behavioral (CBT) and she has training in multiple therapy modalities including exposure therapy,  Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Her years of training included time spent at Hofstra University's  Phobia & Trauma Clinic, Hofstra University's Student Counseling Services, and Northport VA Medical Center. She completed her APA-accredited internship at the University of Pittsburgh Counseling Center. While obtaining her Ph.D., she wrote her dissertation on how therapist self-disclosure impacts the outcome of exposure therapy.

Her professional interests include anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), phobias, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Dr. Berger also has experience working with clients experiencing depression, grief, relationship and adjustment issues, as well as couple and family problems.

Having positive and warm relationships with her patients is the basis of  Dr. Berger's work. Her therapy style is active and collaborative.  Helping clients to gain insight into why certain problematic patterns exist and empowering patients to make  meaningful changes in their lives is the focus of her work.
